my contention is IF the rebels take back lothal, they can attend to de-commissioning the factory and either destroying or requisitioning the fuel for the rebellion AFTER, once they have control of the planet.
so basically my question is, how does the continued presence of the fuel depot prevent any of what ezra and his allies do in the final two episodes to take back lothal?
Could be argued that the Empire might still believe they have a vested interest in Lothal with the factories still intact? Like, it wouldn’t take much to oust the Rebels and take back production but with the fuel depot destroyed completely now they have to oust the Rebels AND clean up the damage AND import more fuel and now it’s more trouble than it’s worth and they’re dissuaded from prioritizing it right away. And hey, they have a planet destroyer in the works anyway, Lothal will get theirs soon and now they can funnel more funds and supplies and materials towards it, now that they’re not wasting it on TIE Defenders.
Idk, that’s how I’m making sense of it in my own head anyway. Kanan still didn’t HAVE to die for any of this.
yeah that’s probably the strongest reason for it. sabine DOES say there was still constant worry the empire would return, but they never did
