I actually always just thought he was using the Force to either push the tentacles around Thrawn tighter or is just pushing Thrawn back against the window.

But now that I think about it he may have been using the Force to create some type of bubble or something to protect him from the Hyperspace jump since it is confirmed that they both survive it and since the windows were shattered, how else would that have happened, the only explanation I have is that Ezra was using the Force to save him and Thrawn from the vacuum of space.
