did anybody else get the impression dec in the join the resistance trilogy is gay?

cos in escape from vodran, dec tells cost a story about how he realized he was different from other kids and was scared it would make people hate him, but when he told his brother, aygee reassured him and he was able to tell his parents and friend and everybody else.

but he never specifies WHAT the “thing that made him different” was

what do you guys think?

and then later in ‘escape from starkiller base,’ when sari tells mattis that she likes dec, mattis asks her if she thinks he might like her back and sari says “Dec and I have talked about everything under every sun together, and I’ve never known him to like a girl. It’s just not how he is.”

and also for what it’s worth, there’s also a scene in escape from vodran where mattis calls jo lorica’s boyfriend and she shoots back by dec mattis’ boyfriend and both are treated as equally realistic

each of these things on their own has me raising an eyebrow but TOGETHER i kinda don’t think it’s just in my head….
