Let me tell you a little more about Qi’ra. She didn’t exactly look fierce. Why, I doubt she’d come up to the knee joint of a bageraset. But people don’t wind up with Crimson Dawn’s symbol on their wrists unless they they can handle themselves. And Qi’ra definitely could.
How do I know that? Because working at the Lodge I’ve seen about a thousand outlaws and bounty hunters, which means I got a crash course in body language – no matter how many limbs you have or what they look like.
I can tell if you’re armed, and if you’re used to being armed. A newbie walks around like the blaster on his hip weighs 10 kilos, but a veteran moves like the weight is nothing new to her.
Qi’ra carried herself like her blaster was an old friend.
And she had the manor of someone used to being obeyed. when she’d come to see me, she was always polite and professional. She never treated me or anyone else like a servant, ask for anything unreasonable, or try to shortchange old Tibbs. But whether she needed kod’yok steaks for Vos’s yacht or information about an overdue courier, Qi’ra expected to be taken seriously and dealt with quickly and fairly. She had a certain authority, I guess that’s the word. The kind you’d expect from a Crimson Dawn lieutenant …and then something more.
Qi’ra. Remember that name. Something tells me we’ll all hear it again.
Anyway, Qi’ra went off with Beckett’s gang and after that …who knows?

not to bring fucking bullshit r**** twitter drama to your doorstep, but how fucking embarrassing is it how desperately this asshole backtracked and pretended they didn’t just call me a freak for committing the cardinal sin of defending finn when they obviously did LMAO. like what kind of fool do you take me for???

jason fry officially uncanceled ;P
ultimately the GOOD in jason fry’s overall star wars body of work outweighs the bad for me but the bad is just REALLY BAD and worse, REALLY HIGH PROFILE.
like if servants of the empire was trash it wouldn’t be too bad because not that many people care about them (I DO) but people REALLY REALLY CARE about certain movie characters so when you write them ah. irresponsibily it’s NOT COOL
I really do like Winloss and Nokk though. And since I detest Spurrier’s version of Aphra as some sort of cunning Thrawn-y chessmaster who’s always outsmarting everyone around her, I liked seeing her struggle with her plans then only barely get out alive and without the artifact. Like, there you go, that’s the human disaster I remember. Now give her actual character depth and consistency and we’ll be getting somewhere.
@aspiringwarriorlibrarian spurrier’s aphra feels like one of those really bad doctor who episodes that’s just obsessed with coming up with the most bizarre convoluted solution imaginable just to drive home how CLEVER the doctor is.
winloss and nokk were SO charming and it was really refreshing to read a doctor aphra story that just let itself be silly and fun and let her be the somewhat hopeless wreck who just BARELY makes it through that she really is.
i hope when this current arc wraps up that he switches gears to something more like that because that’s what i LIKE about doctor aphra. his fixation on emphasizing what a bad person she is and basically giving her some serious character regression sucks and i HOPE things get better soon 🤞 PLEASE
