Ahsoka in Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know (2015) â Absolutely Everything You Need to Know, Updated and Expanded (2017)
ah FUCK, looking at these again, the fact the first edition’s quote is “YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME SKYGUY” and the updated is “MY MASTER COULD NEVER BE AS VILE AS YOU”
So I found this map of Tatooine, which Iâve decided to use as a guide for my fic, but I donât see Mos Espa on it. Anyone know around where it would be? Or have a better map that I can use?
IâM GONNA DO MY BEST HERE, but we donât really have a great map of pretty much anywhere even if we include Legends stuff, but I think you can get a rough idea!
Itâs really half infographic, so itâs hard to get a sense of distance, scale, or how much empty space there really is, but I think basically Mos Eisley is off to the lower east, Mos Espa is up north, and the Lars farm is reasonably close to Mos Eisley and Anchorhead, while Obi-Wanâs hut is more towards Mos Espa. (Donât quote me without a source on this part, but I want to say he was about an hourâs ride away from the Lars farm, I think?)
LEGENDS MAP OF TATOOINE: Iâve done a couple of reference posts about Legends materials for Tatooine (and especially Mos Eisely, since Mos Espa was never really covered), which mostly come from RPG guides, which were the lowest run of âcanonâ even before, because they pretty much had to make up what they needed for their games, but! The map thatâs easier to parse looks generally the same basic layout:
Mos Espa is up in the norther part, while Mos Eisley and the Lars farm are more in the lower eastern side. Obi-Wanâs hut is closer to Mos Espa again than it is to the Lars family home and the biggest difference is that Jabbaâs palace is up towards the northeast instead of the lower southeast. (And yetÂ
the sarlacc pit/Great Pit of Carcoon and the site of Anakinâs slaughter of the Tuskens are up towards the northeast on both maps, so idk.)
The above map looks like it mostly reflects the same things, aside from the locations of the sarlacc pit/Pit of Carkoon and Jabbaâs palace, so youâre probably good with whatever you choose! đ
@pandora15 if you trying to go for the Most Official Accurate Canon Info Available, i’d go for the second map! it looks like the exact same map that’s in star wars: complete locations (2016), except that it uses different typeset for the captions and landmark labels, so the info there is definitely still canon.
the first one, is from star wars: galactic maps (or galactic atlas for the UK edition), and the in-universe introduction to the book says that the artist of the maps wasn’t trying to make a wholly accurate map of any of the planets included (had actually never even been to them!) and was more interested in telling the story of the great historical events that happened on the planets through his maps
it’s still a useful resource, but the other one is actually meant to be an accurate informational resource. if you want more details on tatooine or other planets in movies (like maps of the mos espa circuit and of mos eisley), try and grab a copy of ‘complete locations’ from your library, or i can point you in the direction of full scans if that’s not something you can easily do!
