I don’t know why but it occurred to me the other day how Ezra’s abilities and actions at the end of SWR proved Vader wrong. Besides, Vader was being a real a-hole saying something like that to a kid he was about to murder.
The thing that really strikes me is that when it came down to it, there’s a bit of sour grapes in that because Vader couldn’t be a Jedi. But Ezra could.
Like the Force-throwing and leaping and moving things with your mind, that’s just the cherry on top, the true test is whether you can control yourself, make yourself let go even when it’s crushing you. And Vader is and was better than Ezra on all accounts (except animal control), but he couldn’t do that, and Ezra could, and in the end that’s what really mattered.
So, I watched Star Wars Resistance
I wasn’t going to. Or rather, I was going to, but I was going to leave it til next week when it’s on TV here. But I was bored and I had nothing to watch, so I thought I might as well.
It was okay. Maybe (probably) I’m still bitter about Rebels ending
and the way that it endedbut I just haven’t gotten into it. When I first discovered Rebels I watched the first season in a single sitting. Obviously I can’t do that here anyway since it’s new, but I have no desire to do that. I found my attention waiving, found myself checking my phone. Then I didn’t bother with the last episode, and returned to it a day later when I found myself with nothing to do again. The trouble is, I honestly can’t tell if I’m just not impressed with the series, or if I’m holding a grudge against it because it’s not Rebels, you know? Either way, maybe it’ll get better. There was a lot of scene setting and character cameos to start.
I’ve seen no reaction online because I deliberately avoided checking. But now I’m curious, if you’ve seen it, what did you think?
So based purely on the three replies, and on the fact that there were only three replies, I’m going to assume the following for now:
Not that many people watched it. Or if they did, they’re not the same people that were watching Rebels.
It has good points, and at least one person really likes it. So maybe isn’t as meh as I’m thinking right now (I had a bad day and a horrible customer, so that’s gonna influence how I see stuff maybe)
It’s not all that great so far. (But honestly nothing much has happened yet)
I’m going to keep watching for now, hopefully Jacen will show up, or better yet Hera. Or Sabine. Maybe even Ezra, who knows? But I’m not going to worry about watching it the instant it’s available. Or even the same day it’s available.
I think it’s because I don’t have a favourite character. I always have a favourite in the shows I love. This show, I don’t care about anybody in it yet. Maybe I’ll learn to love them.
It’s a relief, in a way. Rebels broke my heart. Twice. I’m not ready to go through that again.
I only just watched the first episode so I can’t really make any kind of assessment. It took me four or five episodes to get interested in Rebels, to be perfectly honest. The animation style took some getting used to. I mean I loved the facial expressions, but some of the hair textures, etc. I’m not crazy about to this day.
As fro Resistance, I love how colorful it is, but none of the characters hooked me immediately. I’m actually more intrigued with what will be revealed about the First Order and its characters than any of the good guys so far. Again, one episode is not a fair assessment.
I can say that if this show has nothing to do with the Force, it will surprise me if it manages to hold my interest. SW without the Force to me is like Harry Potter without Harry, lol.
“We wanted to give a slice of life in a part of the galaxy that wasn’t about the Jedi. How do people who are maybe not as connected with the Force, or at least they don’t think they are, how did they respond to these threats? What do we do in the meantime when there isn’t really a war going on?”
i thought this quote from justin ridge (executive producer) was kinda intriguing. maybe he’s just leaving that door open as a possibility or just means how *everyone* is connected to the force in some way, but STILL
personally, i’m not sure that ANYTHING could take me in as intensely as rebels did cos, well, you all saw where THAT went. even so i’m VERY taken with resistance and excited for more (trying to hold off on watching the next couple episodes til they actually air hehe)
I was beginning to believe I knew who you were behind that mask, but it’s impossible. My master could never be as vile as you.
