if maul somehow talked ezra into believing kanan and sabine were lost to the nightsisters and leaving with him, i think maul’s plan to shape ezra into his apprentice would still fail. maul inadvertently gave ezra hope he can hold onto when he let him find out obi-wan is alive. if ezra truly thinks kanan is lost, i think he might be just desperate enough to continue on as maul’s protege in the hopes he can find obi-wan through maul. maul would only have the temporary illusion of success.
