This man is truly the most extra being in the entire Star Wars universe (and wow, is that ever saying something).

the best part? he’s talking to himself. that “most satisfactory” is all about him, about what he senses in the force, about how near he feels to his goal, about the increase of his power.

ozzel’s like who is this bizarre space witch – eyebrows ready fly off his head – can we focus on the real target here

“hope,” says vader, as ozzel decides for good that he’s insane

Ozzel’s internal monologue every time he is in the room with Vader: what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck.

god there’s so much happening here its kind of overwhelming. the emotions on ahsoka’s face break my heart ;___; she looks completely devastated.

the echo of vader’s response to luke’s attempt to persuade him to come with him is SUCH a punch in the gut. luke’s simple request to his father to “come with me” is a perfect complement to ahsoka’s last words to him, “i won’t leave you. not this time.” ahsoka doesn’t directly ask anything of anakin like luke does. but by placing herself at his mercy, even knowing how deeply buried anakin’s former self is (“my master could never be as vile as you” “i destroyed him”), the unspoken request that he remember who he was couldn’t be more clear. unlike luke, i don’t know that ahsoka truly believes she can get through to him.

juxtaposing this scene in return of the jedi with darth vader’s final confrontation with ahsoka also highlights how profoundly vader has changed in a decade. luke confronts anakin with the simple fact that if he does not turn away from the emperor, he’ll be forced to kill his son. vader responses with a detached “if that is your destiny.” there’s no conviction behind it, and clearly wavering in his faith for his master. this couldnt be more difference from anakin’s cold declaration to ahsoka, “then you will die.”

easily one of the most powerful echos in the episode, for how much it makes you feel for the characters in the “present” and the future
