I love this scene and I love all the body language, including Ezra’s whoops-I-didn’t-say-that-correctly face that he makes right before he tries to verbally backpedal (”Not that you’re not the best. I–”).
man in servants of the empire, it talked about imperials abducting the kids of people they want to arrest to get them to turn themselves in and i had the terrible awful bad thought of them doing that to ezra 😿
there’s the even worse thought that while in imperial custody ezra’s Unique Gifts manifest themselves in some way and so……. ephraim and mira turn themselves in cos they could never just abandon ezra like that..
but theyve already called in grand inquisitor by that time and have no intention of letting ezra go 😦
Let’s continue this in a more optimistic direction, shall we?
…a few years later…
While in the process of being transferred to an even more obscure Imperial prison, the prisoner transport was raided by the Ghost – Kanan, Hera and Zeb were looking for some vital intel to pass along to Fulcrum, but were more than happy to help with the impromptu rescue mission the prisoners started in the confusion!
The Grand Inquisitor had been using the threat and sight of them, every few months, to ensure compliance. Their escape was thus something of an annoyance to him – since his little apprentice was rather inconsistent in his belief in the Grand Inquisitor’s story (that they had been brutally murdered by terrorists).
He rarely had time for his hobby of hunting down Mira and Ephraim, due to the other missions he was forever assigned. Ezra never forgot his real name and family, though he sometimes came close. Eventually he lied well enough to earn some small amount of trust from the Grand Inquisitor, and was send on a baby hunting mission (with Seventh Sister (who’s just as creepy around Ezra as in canon) as backup). Ahsoka, Kanan and Zeb intervened, much like in the equivalent canon episode, and Ezra tried to slip away in the confusion. This get-away wasn’t perfect, and now both sides hunt him (though the rebels do so to re-unite him with his family…)
So, I did this a long while back when I was still into Star Wars Rebels, and while the series has ended, and my time in the fandom ending sooner, I will always be proud of this piece.
Ezra was born as the empire was, and order 66 was carried out. So as Ezra took his first breath, Depa took her last.
