it’s an interesting touch that maul says the nightsisters were killed because they were “a threat to the EMPIRE,” considering that happened well before the empire came into being.

this is partially an appeal to ezra’s feelings (see the next line), but it’s also a nice reminder that maul knows more about the truth of how the empire came to be than just about anyone. it might be more accurate to say they were massacred because they were a threat to count dooku and darth sidious. but in the end, a threat to them and a threat to the empire is really the same thing, with different names.

the big change between now and the start of the season isn’t kanan trusting ezra with maul. it’s ezra trusting himself enough that he would ASK that of kanan. admittedly ezra’s backed into a corner and the OTHER choice is letting maul mess with his friends again, which he will NOT let happen. is terrified to even think of it. but having the confidence in himself to ask kanan to trust him with maul, even in the fact of kanan’s vocal objections is HUGE. these two are everything ♥️

maaaaan kanan does NOT want to let ezra out of his uh sight (sorry) when maul’s around after all the shit they went through the last two times ;; but ezra’s a little older and a lot wiser, and knows that if it’s only HIM with maul, he should be safe. safe enough.

the funny thing is if they just swapped notes on what they saw the first time, they wouldn’t have needed to do this scary ritual 😂 not that maul would just volunteer the fact that OBI-WAN KENOBI is alive buuu~uut
