As I’ve researched Hera’s character over the last few months while working on writing, one of the most surprising things that has stuck out to me is all the little glimpses of her Twi’lek heritage that sit unobtrusively in the background in the early seasons and develop further from there.
Hera by nature is a private person and does not wear her culture on her sleeve the same way Sabine does (although she does wear it literally, which we’ll also discuss), but she consistently surrounds herself with it, and appears to maintain a deep connection to her homeworld, even though we do not see the full depth of that emotional connection manifest until the attempted retrieval of the kalikori in season 3.
So here we go, LOTS of pictures ahead! (Most images with credit to cap-that.com, although I have lightened and cropped a number of them.)
This is such an eye opener for me, I honestly never really noticed any of these artwork details in the show. Thanks for all your time in pulling this meta together. It’s refreshing to know that the SWR design team put a lot of thought into this about her character and I’m glad you picked up on it to share 🙂
I know I haven’t done any Star Wars Rebels art in a while, but here’s a warmup I did this morning of Hera and Jacen Syndulla. I still have a lot of problems with the SWR finale, but I’m glad Hera had Jacen in midst of losing everyone else. ❤
Here’s @rainbow-sulfur’s prize for winning my 500 follower giveaway! They wanted a picture of Ezra with all his space-parents, so I decided to do one of them all looking over the hills of Lothal.
found this in my drafts and GODDAMN hera you kill me!!!!
i love how hera’s rolling her eyes but doesn’t actually look genuinely angry or annoyed with hondo for once :’) not ONLY did hondo come through and make this possible with his sneaky pirate tricks, he showed he is as faithful to ezra as everyone. hondo’s never gona be anything other than Uh naturally duplicitous, but when it comes to ezra there’s an exception 💚💚💚
