exactly!! and he does the same with ezra. so much so that learning when to step back and let ezra be who he is and make his own mistakes was a huge lesson he had to learn (with a little help from the force ;p)

it especially reminds me of the instance in the wynkahthu job, where he tells hera that ezra needs to learn for himself that hondo can’t really be trusted. just being told we’re wrong or we’ve made a mistake isn’t enough to truly learn from that. kanan understands that

@zareleonis Kanan speaks from personal experience, he knows full well that no one else can solve all your problems fully except for yourself. But Kanan (like literally any parent in the world) had to learn to accept that for his kids. It was harder to do so with Ezra seeing as how deeply connected they are and how Kanan’s own fears of failing his son got in the way for a long time.

But after losing his sight he was actually able to realized that he can’t completely fight his kids battles for them, can’t take them away and shelter them. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be there, protect them and support them as best he can.
