i like to imagine when kanan’s not shaving anymore after malachor cos it’s really tricky when newly blind and he’s honestly too depressed to even try, that zeb would tell him having that big full beard is a good thing for lasats and means kanan’s brave and strong and worthy of respect to try and cheer him up.

zeb’s the kind of guy has trouble with grand sweeping emotional declarations, but something more lighthearted to bring a smile to his friend’s have suits him very well. zeb would want to help his friend feel a little better and also let him know how much he values him, in a really heartfelt way.
