obi-wan believes in luke with his entire soul ;;

how must obi-wan feel to acknowledge this out loud for the first time in near twenty years?

I always wonder if Obi-wan actually thought Luke was the chosen one or not. Like this scene keeps me awake at night with this question. Because around two decades earlier Obi-wan screams “you were the chosen one” to Anakin on Mustifar. Like does Obi-wan now almost twenty years later think the prophecy is wrong? Or was he just lying to Maul because he didn’t trust him? He didn’t trust him even in death???

I DONT KNOW GUYS…. this scene really does keep me awake at night.

WHAT WAS OBI THINKING IN THAT TATOONIE DRIED BRAIN OF HIS????

@sturwurstrash zero hour rebels recon ruined all the mystery cos they asked pablo hidalgo and he said obi-wan is talking about luke here.

it does make really nice parallel, between ezra and obi-wan in the episode. obi-wan believes he was wrong to think anakin is “the chosen one,” and now believes only in luke. similarly, ezra thinks obi-wan is the “key to defeating the sith” that the holocrons were pointing him to, when in fact he was pointed to tatooine because LUKE was there. i wonder if obi-wan was thinking of how he (in his mind) misinterpreted that prophecy when he speaks to ezra, just like ezra misinterpreted what the holocrons showed him.

i also love that ezra’s question – completely independent from that prophecy – is for the “key to destroying the sith.” i think it’s cool, because obi-wan is actually the only one in the prequel trilogy who explicitly describes “the chosen one” as someone who will “destroy the sith” rather than just someone who will “bring balance to the force.” it’s a neat little link between the ezra and obi-wan here!
